Meet Asael
I’m Asael Lopez, a photographer based in Miami. Originally from Havana, Cuba, I moved to the United States at 25 in search of better opportunities and a future shaped by my own decisions.
Photography is how I understand people and the space they occupy. My work focuses on presence and control, using the human figure to explore strength, identity, and quiet tension. I’m less interested in performance or perfection, and more drawn to what remains when those things are removed.
Alongside my personal work, I photograph individuals in a collaborative and intentional way. Each session is approached with care and clarity, allowing space for trust to develop and for the subject to be seen without exaggeration. The goal is to create portraits that feel grounded, confident, and honest, reflecting who the person is rather than who they are expected to be.
